• GM-48313 or ST-161 Timing Chain Retention Tool: This tool works on 2009 and prior models for Bank 1 and Bank 2-cylinder heads. For 2010 and later models, it works only on Bank 2 (Left Cylinder Head).
• GM-49982 or ST-250 Timing Chain Retention Tool: This tool works on 2010 and later models for Bank 1 (Right Cylinder Head) only.

A rib has been added near the timing chain, blocking access for the currently essential GM-48313 Timing Chain Retainer. The GM-49982 tool is designed to fit around this rib when retaining the chain.
